Monthly Update {10 months}

Another fun month with one busy baby! Lilly Rose you are on the move and keeping things fun around here. This past month has been a pretty big one. You learned to crawl, stand up in the crib and we've found that you have one strong arm. You are such a joy and lately I find myself smiling at the thought of how fun life is with you, how blessed and thankful we are to have you in our lives. Here's a little of what you were up to this past month:

-- Your strong arm: I found this out one day while sitting on the floor playing with you. You took a toy and basically pitched it across the room. I wasn't sure what just happened and was quite shocked the power behind your little arms already. I'm afraid I'm going to have to keep an eye on this as I'm not sure if it was a discovery of yours or temper. Either way, I've got my eye on you baby girl.

-- Shopping: You are such a great shopper! We go out a couple times a week and you are 95% of the time so pleasant and love to be out and about. You started sitting in the cart this past month just like a big girl. Sometimes you even get comfortable, lay back and snack. Cracks me up!
-- Vocabulary: We've added a few words besides "dada" as you are now saying, "doo dooo dooooo" (with your guitar positioned arms as you bounce up and down) "Oliver - ahh-vur" "Papa" "no"... You're still holding out on "mama" but when you cry you seem to know how to say my name, your cry sounds like "MmaaaaaaaaaaaaaMmaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahh"

-- Crawling: you are all over the place and it's keeping me on my toes. You've been wanting to move for months so you are definitely making up for lost time getting into anything and everything.

-- Love: to brush your teeth - you smile so big and get excited when I tell you it's time to brush teeth. This makes me proud because I know it's one less struggle I'll have in trying to keep those teeth cavity free.

-- New to you: yogurt, cheese and trying new foods. You are not too fond of anything I give you outside of the Gerber brand with the exception of cheerios and banana's. We are working on it.

-- Play: you love to swing, crawl all over the house and sit with your toys and play while watching Seasme Street.

-- Hair: I have to comment on your hair Lilly because so many people question me about it. Strangers have said: "rock on baby, baby rocker" because of its height, "do you style her hair" um, no!, "wow, look at that hair" yep it's a conversation piece wherever we go. Some in the family call it "Ava hair" because your cousin Ava had hair like this too as a baby. I think it's definitely soo you and you wear it well. :) I've become so fond of your doo that I may just tear up a little once it decides to lay down.

Stats:
About 18lbs, 6mo, 6/9mo and some 12mo clothes
Eyes are hazel - a blue/grey color.
Sz 3 diapers - you are a pretty long baby so we had to move up for your length.
Shoes: 3 and you have lots of them, you love shoes!

It's been such a fun month. I'm enjoying this stage so much. Lilly Rose, we love you to the moon and back!

It's Okay, Papa {FL/GA game}

This past weekend was the big game, the FL-GA game that we look forward to each year.  Back in my single days I didn't really care about the game. I'd dress up in orange and blue here or there to watch with friends (and support the gators because I love Tebow). I like to call those my dark days, traveling down the wrong path and lead astray. ha! UGA has always been Billy's team, naturally since he's a big sports fan and Georgia boy. So, once we started a family I knew I was "all in" and my sweet girl would wear red and black proudly.

Saturday we went to Yaya and Papa's house to watch the game since Billy had to work. Lilly Rose cheered with me (clapped hands, threw hands up in the air and screamed), she would have made her daddy so proud if he had been there with us. After the win she was one busy baby consoling her Papa back to good spirits. She told him it was okay, it's just a game and better luck next year. Good job, Dawgs!!!

Our baby is growing up! {9mo 4wks}

What a big 24 hours in the Bird house! First, we had to lower the crib! Yep, we wake up to a sitting baby (who knows how to bring herself to a stand) and another day couldn't pass without lowering that crib. Already!?

Thanks, Da-da!!
Secondly, we have a crawler! Last night I was playing on the floor with Lilly Rose and the next thing I know she's crawling towards the entertainment center. I jumped up to grab my iPhone to take video and after I captured it the phone decided it was full of memory and wouldn't let me take a picture. Ugh! So I ran in the library to grab the camera and took more video...forgetting to grab a picture! So this morning when our little mover decided to crawl this mama was prepared! I put Sesame Street on and just let her do her thing.

 Oliver is clearly unsure of this new milestone

When Lilly was a newborn the first couple weeks seemed to drag on and the only thing I'd hope for is sleep. That was my hope anyway. Sleep. No one told me those would be the only weeks that would drag on as the rest of the first year flys! During those first few days I had a quick thought about "this time (it was Christmas) next year" and quickly changed my thoughts because I wanted to savor each moment I had with that tiny tiny 5lb 15oz. baby girl. Now, I spend my late nights trying to prepare for that baby girls first birthday. The thoughts I pushed away are now 9 weeks away!

I've totally gone off post topic but the first crawl and lowering her crib made me a little sentimental. I think after her nap, I'm going to snuggle with that baby and savor each second of the remaining first year. It just goes WAY too quickly. However, I must say that even though it's going too fast, I'm having more fun each month and so proud of Lilly Rose!!

Good job, Lilly Rose on becoming a crawler! Mommy is in so much trouble... :)

First Parade {& a sleep-over}

(This is how I found LR Saturday morning - sitting up & happy!)
Last weekend while Billy was working, Lilly Rose and I packed up the truck and headed to Yaya & Papa's house for a sleep-over. We do enjoy a good sleep-over! Saturday was the annual Okefenokee parade, just a short walk up the street from their house. So, Saturday after breakfast we all took a stroll up to watch the parade. Lilly was not quite sure of it as she just stared and took it all in. We had a nice little time in Georgia as usual. Thanks for the fun sleep-over Yaya and Papa!

Extra Cuddly {lazy}

We have been on the move so much lately that I decided we were long over-due for a day in our PJ's. No visitors, no outings, no socks & shoes running out the door, just me & my girl hanging. I think Lilly Rose is enjoying it as much as myself... She's been extra cuddly and giving lots of sugar today. These days sugar is pretty rare as she's just too busy in her moving and play to stop for kisses. So today is extra nice as this mama needed the sugar & snuggles with this sweet girl.

A weather tease {60 degrees!}

Yesterday we had temps in the 60s! All. Day. Long. A real treat for Florida at the start of Fall. The one thing I dislike most about living in FL is the lack of nice weather in the Fall. Who wants to have their cute pumpkin melting on the porch? We don't!  So needless to say, we loved having a cooler day to play in!

Lilly Rose and I took advantage of the great weather and spent most of our time at the town center doing a little outdoor shopping. Lilly Rose sported her first pair of jeans and looked like such a big girl. We had a great day together.

Time at the Playground {swinging}

"And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet
and the winds long to play with your hair." Author: Kahlil Gibran
Lilly Rose, you definitely enjoy a good play session and today was no different swinging. This was your second time in the big girl swing and you were MUCH more animated this go round. I'm sure you enjoyed yourself as much as I did watching you have fun.
