Doctor Visit {15 mo}

Monday I took Lilly Rose to her 15 month check up. Dr. Baker said Lilly Rose looked great and was on her normal growth rate of being "long and lean". I did pray she would have her daddy's genetics. ;) I can just see the tears and hear the conversations now that we'll have in middle school when she is a foot taller than all her little boy friends (that would be friends that are boys, she's not allowed "boy friends" until she's at least 21, ha!).

headed to the doctor
I am going to be honest, it was torture waiting in a very small room with a half naked baby. All she wanted to do was everything she shouldn't be doing. Exhibit A...

There were a few fits, cries and one stressed out mama! Our visits have always gone smoothly so this toddler behavior was all new. Next visit I'll have to bring something to entertain her. I just had no idea she would throw multiple tantrums out of boredom and not wanting to obey... I'm sure the staff thought I was beating my child in the room. It was just a torturous wait. Once Dr. Baker came in she behaved.

Lilly did cry after her two shots (one in each leg) but tears subsided quickly. Much better than previous shots. All in all we have a very active, healthy baby girl so I will stop my complaining here. ;)
really mom, must you taking a hundred pictures?

We made it home to cuddle with daddy. Billy has been working really long days this week and catching 20 minutes sleep when he can. One day he didn't even get home until 5:30AM (he left the prior morning for work). We are thankful for his job but overnights are just no fun - especially for him.

Daddy! So happy to see you...
You wouldn't believe what they did to me!
Thanks for listening, you're the best.

15 month stats:
21 lbs 7oz.
31.5 inches
7 teeth
size 3 or 4 shoes
12-18 months clothing

Lately {15 months}

Well I guess for baby book purposes I have been keeping up with the monthly post. I didn't think I would do so. However, I don't feel pressure to do them like I did the first 12 months. Lilly Rose is changing so quickly it would be hard to stop documenting for the sake of our book. :)
15 months!! Lilly turned 15 months while we were in Atlanta...we 'celebrated' with our little trip to Athens (visiting the Varsity and UGA). Daddy didn't think 15 months old was too early to introduce her to her future college. ;)

Lately...
-- Likes: books, Elmo, giving kisses, dancing and mickey mouse
-- Dislikes: being told NO (although I doubt anyone likes being told no), easy to throw a tantrum and they last about 30 seconds. Thankfully the tantrums only happen every so often.

-- New: can pick up toys while standing up, shakes her little hand with finger pointing up while we sing "This Little Light of Mine" (her favorite, we sing it at bedtime every night.)

-- Funny: "Hey Baby!" - Lilly likes to say this to me when I walk into the room. Hilarious.

-- Words Lilly can say: Dada, mama, bow, no, dog (dau), down, bye-bye, and snack

-- Words Lilly knows really well but can't say yet: lunch, nap, supper, Elmo, dance, field trip (I say this when we leave the house), and Yaya. I'm sure there are more but these are the ones that come to mind.

-- Diet: Lilly now refuses baby food which is great but makes supper really hard as she's become so picky. Breakfast consist of fruit, cheerios, whole grain waffle bits or whatever I am having she likes to try. Lunch there are endless options and dinner is tough. Peas and Carrots are climbing the charts but as of now she'll eat one or two and play with the rest. I'm trying to stay consistent and give healthy options and hope soon she'll love dinner again. This is probably the toughest part of the day - feeding time.

-- Sleep: Do I dare document this for the possibility of it back-firing and having a rough nights sleep... ?? ;) Lilly is still a great night sleeper (12+ hours) and goes down just great by herself. New this past month: naps that last 20min-1.5 hours in her crib depending on the day/week. I do love that she is like clock-work and routine is so simple these days.

Lilly Rose,
You are a funny, sweet, very loving, happy, BUSY and beautiful little toddler. You love to talk, play with your toys, watch Elmo, dance, sing and read books. You love the swing at the play ground and really love to explore. I said last month was a favorite but it seems each month gets better. I really miss that tiny tiny baby BUT love watching you grow. You are so smart and each day you learn more. Life is 1000x more fun with you in our little family and I'm so very thankful God gifted us with you.

love you to the moon and back, momma
Yaya purchased summer sandals this past month -- we've had a few warm days to wear them already and looking forward to warmer weather here soon! Lilly still really loves shoes. Thanks, yaya!

Bathroom Makeover {finally}

A couple months ago I decided to finally do something with Lilly's bathroom. It is also our guest bathroom when we have company. The room was ugly. Lots of beige! I had a burst of energy around 3pm one day and decided to start painting (I had just purchased the paint a day or two prior). So Billy was on full time Lilly Rose duty and I dedicated the rest of the day/evening to painting. I really do love to paint, especially on a blank canvas because the transformation is drastic. By 11 pm I had completed the paint job and worked on the details the following day. I'm definitely not a decorator but paint can do amazing things!
I've hesitated to blog or post any sort of pictures of the bathroom makeover in hopes my dad would come put up some beadboard for me. I have a sheet in the garage and I think the wall under the pictures is calling for it. He is busy though and I haven't bribed him with a pie yet. So, we'll see. Here's a few pictures of Lilly (& guests) new bathroom.

Weekend Getaway {atlanta}

This past weekend we headed to Atlanta to visit with Billy's family. It was long past due as they had not seen Lilly in 6 months. We were also looking forward to getting away for a bit. Before Lilly we would take a little trip every other month or so. I have the 'nomad' Kriner blood running through me and Billy loves to keep on the go just as much. Now that Lilly is a little older, I believe it will be much easier to go...that first year just seemed tough.

headed to grandma's
We arrived Thursday night and enjoyed our time through the weekend getting home Sunday afternoon. Grandma Bird was sure to cook us wonderful meals and spoiling Billy with homemade biscuits. Billy and I drove to Athens to eat some greasy goodness at the Varsity and take Lilly Rose to her future Alma Mater. We'll see... I still have hopes she'll want to be a Liberty girl like her mama. ;) One night we even got to have dinner with friends and leave Lilly Rose with her grandparents. We were a bit cold as the Spring temps are still Winter temps -- and our girl has completely outgrown most of her winter things so we're hoping the nice spring/summer weather gets here quickly.

20 minute nap then woke up screaming an hour down the road. nice!
so we stopped for an early dinner - ms. thing didn't want her picture taken

  all's well after we let her "drive" for a little bit

date night :)

No crying on the trip home and slept like a dream the entire weekend. Overall I believe we have a great little traveler. :)

St. Patrick's Day {tradition}

St. Patrick's Day is always a fun celebration in our family. Thanks to my Irish heritage on my mother's side, we have celebrated the holiday properly as long as I can remember. As a kid/teen I thought it was lame. The loud Irish music, green breakfast and silly green paraphernalia was just too much. And what kid wants to eat corned beef and cabbage?
Now, because I really do enjoy those "lame" things, I get to torture Lilly Rose the same way. Or maybe, just maybe, she'll think it's really fun and it won't be torture at all.  I mean if you were at the Kriner house on St. Patty's Day, you would love it too. Promise.
'Oh Yaya, you are one silly woman'
See, told you we have fun! Pops always makes things a bit more entertaining.
Sweet girl!
We missed Billy, he had to work on St. Patrick's Day. We really don't like when he has to work while we have fun, especially on Sunday. BUT we are so very thankful for him, his good job and his hard work. Also, a big thanks to Yaya for our Irish feast. :)

Beach Day {first}

Better late than never... That pretty much explains this late post and the beach. Last month, February 23, Billy and I took Lilly Rose to the beach --- for THE FIRST TIME! I know, I know it's borderline child abuse. Asinine really. Ashamedly true and plain sad considering we only live a solid 17 miles from the ocean. (Although still desperately too far if you ask me...)

Last summer though I just felt she was too little. I mean she was only 6 months old and barely 13 lbs! I had nightmares of her infant tender skin being exposed under that burning sun for anything over 2 minutes. Well the thought was just scary. I have other excuses too such as I was nursing, we didn't have a beach tent yet, Blah blah blah. So needless to say, we were excited to finally let our girl feel the sand between her toes, smell that gorgeous salt air and frolic around freely at the ripe beach age (according to this neurotic mother), of 14 months old (to the day).

Lilly Rose loved it. We had the best time playing and enjoying the beautiful day. We topped the trip off with lunch & Froyo on centre street. It was a perfect family day that made this mild winter a little brighter!

We are really looking forward to the summer around here now, lots of beach days ahead. We have to make up for lost time ya know!

Zoo Date with Yaya {& ramblings}

Lions, Tigers and ... Monkey's, Oh My! Seeing that our Zoo no longer has a Bear we're substituting with Monkey's.

This past weekend Billy and I had an appointment which then lead to a dinner/shopping date so Lilly Rose and Yaya had a date as well. They visited the Jacksonville Zoo to see all the animals. Yaya said that Lilly Rose pointed to all the animals, learned what giraffe's do with their tongue (very funny) and shopped for a couple treasures to take home. Sounds like a great time to me! Unfortunately for us, my mom is the world's worst at picture taking. Leave it to her to take a picture, it will never happen. Yaya's theory on picture taking is that the memories are so much better in your mind and pictures can be a bit disappointing. While I see her point, I strongly disagree. So, I was sure to grab at least one picture of these two special girls.
Thanks for making it such a fun afternoon for our girl!

In other news the time change has not affected our schedule and I'm so very thankful for that! I was sure I'd have to work days to get her back to a 7-7:30pm bedtime but it's been seamless. As of right now, LR is sleeping soundly in her crib taking a nice long nap. We're making progress, people!! ;)

 And we also have a little runner... Lilly just started a little jog/run/walksuperfast this week. It's so cute to see but it keeps me on my toes!! She can make it to another room in seconds. Loving this stage she's in so much (minus the sudden tantrums but that's for another post, I'll leave this one on a positive note).  :)
