Monthly Update {9 months}

Lilly Rose,

*warning: mama drama* I'm almost a little sad writing this post. You are growing WAY to fast & I just cannot believe how quickly this year is passing. Nine months old seemed SO far away when you were born. We prayed so long & hard to have such a sweet baby that I'm trying to savor each moment because we are not promised another blessing. With that in mind it makes me a little sad to see how quickly you've grown. I am, however, thankful that each moment in your tiny baby days that I have been able to stay at home and love on you every second.

On a happier note, I'm thrilled that you are a happy, healthy, sweet & funny baby girl who is growing into such a lively little person. This past month was by far my favorite! I might be saying this from here on out but it really was my favorite month by far. You are developing, learning, exploring and are such a joy to me!

Here's a little of what you were up to this past month:

-- Lilly, you love clapping hands and do this a lot lately. It's really sweet to see you so happy & sharing your joy.

-- You went on your first little vacation/road trip.

-- You seem to make new noises with your mouth and always have a new sound to share. You are a talker, for sure!

-- Eating is your favorite sport and you've gotten really good at picking up little snacks and feeding yourself.

 -- Two teeth! You broke your first tooth on your 8 month birthday and broke your 2nd one a couple weeks later, your two bottom teeth are really cute. You are not fond of me trying to get a peak though as you like your mouth left alone (can't say I blame you).

-- Lilly Rose, you are mobile as of late! You're not crawling yet but can find yourself from one end of the room/couch to the next. We have to watch you carefully these days as you can bring yourself to a stand, grab everything in sight and wiggle your way to get what you want.

-- In public places you will smile at people but if they talk to you all of the sudden you become a little shy. Lately you will grab onto whoever is holding you (Daddy, Mama, Yaya) a little tighter in public if a stranger speaks to you but are sure to give them your biggest grin.

-- You really like: cheerios, sweet potato puffs, drinking from your sippy cup, outings with mama (usually Publix or Target), things with a tag on them so you can play with the tag, the remote control, shoes (you really love shoes - the word shoes, actual shoes and when we buy you shoes), naps in the swing, jumperoo time, singing with daddy, visiting Yaya at work, walks in the neighborhood, the weather report & sharing hugs and kisses (we love it, too!)

-- You really dislike: eating 10 minutes late (you are like clock-work with your meals), being held like a baby, stage 3 food - it's a texture thing, playing alone if you see your daddy in sight (you are a daddy's girl & want him near you when he's home).

It's been one fun month!

Stats:
Clothes -  6mo, 6/9 (still in newborn bloomers only)
Shoes - moved up to size 2 but quickly outgrowing them! Some 3's
Diapers - size 2
Hair - high, fuzzy, soft baby hair

First Big Girl Swing {9 months}

Lilly Rose and I walked to the playground before lunch today. We enjoyed the beautiful weather and Lilly had her very first swing by herself. She seemed to enjoy it, such a big girl!

Doctor Visit {9 months}

Lilly Rose had her 9 month check up this morning. 9 months!! I'm afraid to blink again in fear of her turning one year soon. Before I get ahead of myself, I'll save my 'mama doesn't want her baby to grow up' drama for the 9 month post.

Dr. Baker said Lilly had a gorgeous figure (ha!) and was developing beautifully. Well then! I guess if Lilly Rose ever has a "down in the dumps" kind of day when she gets older we will just visit her doctor who is always full of compliments. ;)

Lilly Rose had a LOT to say during the appointment and was sure to clap hands and show off all of her developments. I'm afraid this child of mine likes attention! Definitely not like her daddy in that aspect! Aside from a short cry after her two shots in the left thigh, she did great!

Lilly is now 17.75lbs & 28 inches long. Just below 50% avg in weight & in the 75% bracket for height. Glad to see my girl is growing nicely & coming into her own. I'll do her 9 month post this week (hopefully!).

Lions, Tigers & a Carousel Ride {oh my!}

Last Monday Lilly Rose and I loaded up the car and headed to the zoo. We met Yaya & Aunt Catherine (who was in town visiting for the weekend) there around 10AM before afternoon sun became unbarring. It ended up being the perfect weather! We had a sunny sky and temps in the high 70s, that is awesome September weather for us in FL. When we arrived Lilly Rose was so excited to see Yaya and was extra cuddly.
This was Lilly's first zoo experience and although she is still quite young, I was looking forward to seeing if she had any reactions to the animals. I think she enjoyed the "big Sophie's" as Yaya called them because Lilly is still obsessed with her Sophie giraffe. The giraffes have always been my favorite. We went on a choo-choo ride and I could tell she loved that. My girl loves to stand and move around, very much a busy baby so getting out of the stroller and sitting with us on the train ride was a treat.

Once we saw the carousel mom said, "we have to do this" and so Aunt Catherine treated them all to the carousel ride. Thanks, Aunt Catherine! Lilly Rose loved it, she was SO funny to watch. I could tell she wasn't sure what to think but was definitely enjoying herself. The part that cracked me up the most was watching her hold on to the bar for dear life, too cute!
We really had a lovely day and can't wait to go back with daddy & papa next time. Thanks Yaya for sharing your passes with us. We really enjoyed our zoo trip with you and Aunt C.

Our Happy Place {39 weeks}

We took a little time this afternoon to visit our happy place, Amelia Island. The weather was beautiful, Lilly Rose was so good & we enjoyed a sweet treat... Perfect Saturday if you ask me. We were sure to get home in time to watch some football. :)

Mini Vacation {Georgia Bound}

I seem to be behind lately on my post (or never end up doing one). As usual the time passes quickly but we've been so busy and I haven't had much time to blog. The last weekend of August through the first of September we took at little trip to Georgia. Billy's favorite place on earth. A true Georiga boy.
We made our first stop in Folkston, GA. We left our fur-baby at Yaya & Papa's house and of course had to get goodbye sugar! :)
We then headed to Savannah for a little shopping, walking and eating good southern cooking! Lilly Rose did really well on the ride up, only about 2/2.5 hours so it was perfect. It ended up being a rainy afternoon but that did not stop our fun. We enjoyed walking up and down Bay street shopping. Before dinner we headed back to our hotel to clean up while Lilly played. She seemed to really enjoy her first hotel stay.
we arrived with no wines, complains or tears ;)
Yay!

We had dinner at Paula Deen's because the buffet with southern veggies seemed perfect after the day. Afterwards we did a little more shopping and picked up Lilly's first birthday gift. I love to shop for holidays early and found a must have item, perfect for a first birthday. It did get me thinking though, if she was another year or two older there is no way I could hold on to something, it would've been hers for the keeping. For now, she doesn't know any better so no harm done. ;)

We did have an eventful night in the hotel... after bath time Lilly was more than ready for a good nights sleep. She went down in her pack-and-play but only to wake up a few hours later screaming. Screaming! I couldn't calm her, our poor neighbors down the hall! Finally, after Billy was able to hurry and make a bottle, she took a few ounces and was back to sleep. This process repeated 3x. Yes, 3 times! We all ended up sleeping through the night after 2:30AM. I'm not sure if she was scared or what but our little night sleeper sure added some excitement to our hotel stay.
Thanks to cousin Katie for the great traveling tip!
The next morning we were ATL bound and had a nice couple days visit with Billy's family. Friday we enjoyed family time and Grandma Bird made a yummy dinner for us all. Saturday Billy and I were able to have lunch with friends and then drop Lilly Rose with Grandma Bird and Aunt Peggy while we went to the Braves game. We enjoyed the game and spending time with friends. Sunday morning we were able to go to Eagles Landing church and Lilly Rose did pretty great in the service, almost making it through the entire service.
almost to grandma's
great seats! thanks, peggy!

It was nice to get away but nothing is better than coming home after being away. We enjoyed the remainder of Billy's days off relaxing, just the 3 of us. Overall, Lilly was a great little traveler!
