TWO {Lilly Rose is 2!}

When Lilly Rose was a newborn I had more people tell me to cherish each moment because her first birthday would be here before we knew it. And it was the truest statement, children just grow too fast. Two has come in a blink of an eye. Oh how I wish some days I could freeze time. However, while I'm definitely a baby lover and enjoy that stage so very much, Lilly Rose is more delightful now than ever.

I'm raising a very girly southern little lady who can be rough around the edges. She enjoys a spot of tea, jewels, shoes (!!!), her purse and going bye-byes (I have a very social girl). Leaving the house equals lots of fun and socializing with anyone we come in contact with. Though if spoken to first she will play shy. As I'm writing...Lilly Rose walks in (still in Jammie's) with 6 necklaces on, purse on her arm saying, "bye bye, mama"! That sums up most mornings. Often before her breakfast is even served Lilly will ask, "get dressed, pants, shoes, iPhone, bye byes" and I'm not kidding. This morning the first words out of her mouth when I walked into her room were, "truck mama, bye-byes." Unfortunately for Lilly Rose, it's a jammie day around here because we are actually having a "winter storm warning" which is turning out to be very mild if you ask me. Although, I'm not out on the roads so I really  have no idea. I do know that I have yet to see a snow flurry or the promised sleet. Either way, I always welcome a reason to cuddle and stay in our PJs. :)

New things happening at two:
First movie: Mary Poppins! She LOVES this movie. I'd be ashamed to record how many times it's played since her first viewing. Everyday Lilly asks to watch "toppins" (she can say Poppins but likes the song about toppins). The house gets quiet, Lilly is peaceful and all is well in the world. ha! She just loves all the singing.

Lilly's always shown interest towards music (how could she not, we've had music on my belly before she was born) but lately she asks for certain songs, sings a lot and knows most words to songs on her play list. Likes to drum, use the shaker egg and dance. Most songs though we find her directing music with her hands and swaying. Quite the entertainer.

Lilly can sing (say) her ABCs, count to 20, name all fruits and vegetables, knows her colors and shapes. Her pediatrician told me this week (her two well check) that she didn't need to see her at two and a half because she's developing superbly. I guess we are good until three on the well checks. So needless to say, we are proud of our girl and I love her desire to learn. It's fun teaching/watching her do more and more.

peek-a-boo!
Favorite things: Bath time, Mickey Mouse, Dancing with Daddy to My Girl (over and over and over again - at this point it's become a must for her wedding day. Oh the thought makes me teary!), ABC songs with Yaya, loves playing kitchen, fruit/veggie basket, lady bug book, Elmo potty book, shoes (we talk a lot about shoes, likes to have them on and tells others they have on "cute shoes"), going bye-byes, watching Sesame street, talking on the phone, Skype dates being silly with Yaya and the color purple (not the movie, ha! I always give LR options if there is a pink or purple choice and she always says, "purple").

While we have a little learning sponge to praise, Lilly Rose just cannot seem to get it together in the nutrition area. Total Mom fail! My girl still will not her vegetables. She won't even drink juice, eat pasta or mashed potatoes which to my understanding are toddler staples. We live on dairy products, fruits, crackers, chicken (fries if we are out to dinner - a treat) and of course milk and water. Lilly's favorite food would have to be her (unsweetened) apple sauce, purple grapes (cut up of course), whole milk and chicken nuggets (chick-fil-as are her favorite - duh!).  It's a work in progress I guess and as our favorite pediatrician says, "Lilly Rose is not going to go to college eating only applesauce and milk" - so there's hope after all!
Aunt Donna visits (they had a blast!) - note the crackers ;)

If I had to sum up Lilly Rose right now at this moment in time I would say:

Lilly Rose is full of life. She is truly a happy, happy "baby". Loves to throw her head back in a giggle fit, try on our shoes, puts layers of jewelry on (the gaudy gene has definitely passed down, thanks mom!), gives the best kisses and hugs (very affectionate baby--that's her daddy), a big helper (listens to directions really well), loves to sing, dance and the light of our lives. A little dramatic and can cry at the drop of a hat if her feelings are hurt but the sweetest little girl I ever did know. Daddy and I love you sooooo very much, Lilly Rose! It sure is bliss watching you develop and so far, two is looking wonderful on you.

Papa stopped by for a visit!
LR asks about her Papa daily so she was excited to see him.

silly faces before bed

Happy Birthday, Jesus! {Christmas}

So, I'm a month late on this. However, I'm thinking better late than never. My blogging mojo is running low. For many-many reasons. But for the sake of our family book...I'll pick up where I left off. Lilly turned two! And a couple days later we celebrated the most important birth of all, Jesus!

This was Lilly Rose's third Christmas. Hard to believe the first one was the day we brought her home from the hospital. Then we celebrated her second last year in our home just after turning one. This year, at two, was my favorite yet. Although bringing home a baby on Christmas day will always be hard to beat. That was really special.

Christmas Eve we went to church for the candle light service (which we loved) and snacks at Yaya's after. We started the "open one gift Christmas Eve" tradition with Lilly Rose. That was one of my favorite traditions growing up. :) Lilly opened up the Little People Nativity. We love the Little People toys in our home so this was perfect. A great tool to teach the true meaning of Christmas for years to come.

Christmas Day -- the "Kitchen Christmas" -- Papa and Yaya surprised Lilly Rose with a cute pink kitchen. (she's loving it!!!) While we gifted her everything you can think of for the kitchen. We certainly kept KidKraft in business last month. :) It's been so much fun having tea party's, cooking carrots (Lilly's current fav to cook, not to eat unfortunately), baking cookies (Lilly's fav to eat unfortunately ;)) and feeding her babies milk. She's quite the little mother hen this past month as we've enjoyed playing with all the Christmas gifts.

It was a wonderful Christmas! We enjoyed the company of "great" grandma Kriner and had yummy food prepared by Yaya. Lots of playing, resting and snacking followed our gift opening. Blogging about it now though seems like it was months ago. I'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story.
 Checking out her 'anywhere chair'

concentrating. she took forever! little piece at a time. :)

Studying her sugar jar (one of her favorites now to play with)

Pops and Yaya know how to make my girl happy... Elmo AND Count!
Lilly is very much into Count from sesame st. right now.

Fun with Yaya!

Our only family shot of the day (how is that possible!?) so I must throw it in here.

"nosey kisses with daddy" This baby LOVES her daddy.

I still have a TWO post brewing (and wish it would be ready now because Lilly Rose turned 2 a month ago today). Maybe, just maybe, I can get it done so we can move on and have current updates moving forward. Hope everyone is having a wonderful new year! Aside from my procrastination skill set I'm unfortunately developing, we are having a great start to 2014!
