This past weekend we celebrated St. Patrick's Day. It's always a fun holiday with my family and we have a lot of fond memories celebrating this day together. Growing up, Irish music was part of our everyday normal - I always called it 'cleaning music' because mom would blast it through the house while cleaning. In college we would always stay at my parents house for a night or two during Spring Break (usually the week of St. Patty's Day) and Mom and Dad would be sure to make every one's milk and pancake's green all the while blasting the Irish music throughout the house to wake us all up for breakfast. After college we would travel to New York and go into the city for the St. Patty's Day parade and celebrate with my New York family.
This year I was looking forward to introducing miss Lilly Rose into this crazy Irish world. Since she was in the womb Billy would play Galway Girl for her. Now during sing time they still listen to some Irish music and Galway girl is a favorite of hers. I think it's important she knows part of her heritage. I know for a fact she will grow up in the coming years thinking her mother is crazy making a big stink out of the day, wearing silly green paraphernalia and singing at the top of her lungs... I did. :) Thankfully, Billy was off work on Saturday so we spent the day in Folkston. We sure did miss Jordan, Oana and Carlo! We did however have a nice visit with Aunt Rosie, Cousin Katie and the beautiful Sarah Kate. Lilly Rose sure did enjoy getting sugar from everyone. Even skype 'sugar' all the way from New York during our chat with Aunt Regina. Next year, I'll be sure miss Lilly has a green tutu! I was not exactly prepared and she had to sport a silver one with her green shamrock top. Oh well. Funny the details I would have never let happen BEFORE baby happen all the time now.
Here's a peek at our day.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!
